Matthew Ortoleva, PhD
Assistant Professor of English & Writing Center Director
Worcester State University
I'm a professor of English at Worcester State University in Worcester, MA, the second largest city in New England. I also direct the university's writing center where I oversee the work of fifteen to eighteen undergraduate writing consultants. In 2010, I was awarded a PhD in English with a concentration in rhetoric and writing from the University of Rhode Island. I usually teach writing but occasionally teach courses in literature or film. I'm particularly interested in environmental rhetoric and writing, environmental communication, and environmental literature and ecocriticism. My interest in environmental rhetoric and human ecological impact has led to interests in public writing and advocacy studies.
